Day 26..

Sunday Sunday Sunday!

This weekend Jenny and I have successfully stayed on the wagon(her more than me really) and worked out pretty hard. I say this because 1. its the weekend! The weekend I think SHOULD be the hardest time to eat right and continue on schedule working out!  2. because when you see friends and family they are more than likely NOT dieting and will slowly try to convince you that its "OK" to eat what you want sometimes!
Although that may be true... When you have a problem over indulging in general and you are trying to get into the habit of NOT eating whatever you want then its not a great way to think.

Our weigh in is on Wednesday(which seriously I screwed up this Day countdown since we started a few days later in the month. Next month will be on time.

So Friday I decided not to work out but Jenny did. Saturday and Sunday(today) in the morning we both worked out pretty good I'd say! I think we really are getting the hang of putting this into our daily routine and it feels great!

I went to see my parents and cousins new home today. His mother(my god mother) is such an amazing host in putting in lots of snacks treats and foods that I should NOT be eating. I caved and snaked a soda and a few pretzles but made sure to skip my "regularly scheduled snack". Anyways It was hard and frustrating but worth it. I was NOT to lucky on saturday in hanging out with my best friend I haven't seen since before the new year.  We love Mad Mex so I decided to get a vegan quessadilla plus some fried tofu.  Oh... what's that? You say you've never heard of mad mex? Please click on the following link to go to the most delicious mexican asian fusion place ever.  Yes I ate this(vegan quesadilla with black beans that had a kick to them and corn and tofu sour cream) along with this the Pennsyltucky Tofu. I only write this on here because first off it was AMAZING and second off I felt terribly guilty after I ate this! I was SO worried I wouldn't weigh in OK and decided I needed to work out times TEN to work this off. Long story short I woke up and weighed myself and I was a pound less still. Moral of the story.... I should stick to my diet... less stress!

Day 23...

So my abs are sore today! It hurts so good that I'm hoping to make ALL thursdays "Sore Abs Thursdays!" Sounds catchy right!?  Anyways I came home both yesterday and today and tried out a new cable on demand workout video! A friend from work lets call her "Shirae" and I both did the video to see how we liked it. Well it was enjoyable except the part that confused us both which was a 1 minute stop in the workout to advertise how you can buy the whole DVD.  BUY the DVD? Why would I do that when I can do this workout that is 30 minutes has a warm up and a cool down and gets my heart rate going!? Why would I need to buy this DVD when Cable ( one of the good things about it) seem to give me free workouts some over 30 minutes and some only 10 minute quick ones! Anyways Its nice to be able to change up your workout I personally think so you don't get bored!

Anyways Ill give this workout a 3 out of 5 stars..... maybe 2.5 honestly. It made me feel good AND my abs are sore so thats why I would give it a 3 and the 2.5 comes from the fact that they throw you into the moves as if you should already know everything already. Eventually you can get the moves down but it does take a bit. Anyways try it out for yourself! Oh and judgemental me DOES want to point out that the girls voice drives me insane! Agh!!!

Jenny stayed strong today and avoided eating some delicious buffalo pizza at work. She wasn't home to be able to have a made dinner so instead she make shifted one out of cottage cheese pineapple and choc chips! She is super proud of herself and Im super proud of her too! She's been working her tail off working out too so YAY Jenny!!!

So dinner tonight and last night for me was pretty delicious and VERY basic/easy. Honestly I made it BUT split it into 4 different meals to eat for dinner. Sometimes its nice to come home and not have to cook a huge production and have it ready to go for you! So make this BUT remember to split it all up!!(4 servings!)
PASTA WITH SNOWPEAS/GREEN BEANS

1. 1/2 of a 13oz box whole grain rotini pasta
2. 1 can of green beans
3. 2 hand fulls of snow peas
4. 2 TBSP olive oil
5. garlic powder to taste(or fresh minced!)

***REMINDER***
Its delicious and you'll probably want to eat it all of the time!

Until tomorrow...

Day 22...

Welcome to new workout Wednesday!

Wednesday seems to be my favorite day to change what I've been doing as a workout. That being said today was only a slight variation to my normal day to day. Instead of Just dance 3 I decided to do just dance 2! Everyone needs to kick it old school sometimes and Im glad we did that tonight!! On top of that Jenny ( while I was eating dinner) was doing just dance 3 for a while on top of me doing a brazilian body dance (before she came home!). Are you following this yet? Yeah me neither...
Anyways It was a great workout night for us both!!

Id like to send BIG KUDOS to Jenny for dancing every night this week so far for atleast and sometimes over 3000 calories worth of dancing! I mean honestly thanks Wii for helping us keep track so easily for how much we kick butt at dancing.

I made dinner tonight for myself and for 3 other nights. Ill have to post a picture tomorrow night because it was delicious! In the mean time I grabbed a snack at Wegmans  last night that I thought would be delicious and a little healthier than chips. Its called Eat your Vegetables and they are made from beans and vegetables with 1 serving of vegetables in each ounce!! Well they get 4 out of 5 stars on DELICOUSNESS but as far as healthy goes I think I should stick to apples and oranges on this diet.

Things to look forward to tomorrow...
Whole grain Rotini with snowpeas/green beans recipe! Yum!!

Day 21...

Success!! Jenny and I got to meet up at home and work out together!
Chatted a bit while dancing to some songs and probably danced for almost an hour straight. It was fantastic and we both burned around 2500 - 3000 calories(according to Wii and nintendo never lies!)
It was great to be able to work out together since our lives have been so separately hectic lately. So Thanks Just Dance 3!!!

I found a few more recipes also using MUFA's and the flat belly diet rules. I plan on trying something even more new especially since last night when trying to change a recipe I wound up sick to my stomach all last night and today... EEEKKK!!  So maybe I should stick to what I know before REALLY trying new recipes. I mean lets be real.... why mess with perfection!?

Anyways Pizza again tonight. Weigh in is soon but tomorrow AM you bet your face that ill be awake and dancing the morning away! For now I better get to bed.

Day 20...

So I've got bad news and good news and I'm going to keep this short.

The bad news first.. I've got a terrible migraine that has been going on since last night (sunday) at around 6:35 pm.  This weather has been kicking my butt from snowy freezing days to foggy rainy 50 degree weather. Getting Migraines is terrible and knocks me back on my butt to where I can't do anything but lay down and even THAT hurts.  I took some Migraine headache medicine but lets be honest.... since when has an OTC pill REALLY worked with people who get migraines? Do you think its about time I see a doctor? Cause I think I finally do.

The GOOD news I woke up this morning and weighed myself to find out that even after my weekend of slightly " falling off the wagon" due to being out of town I still managed to hit my goal!! I still have about a week or so to keep my numbers down to the right number but I got there! Im just as surprised to be honest but I don't plan on stopping. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that things stay on track.

Day 15...

Good morning and welcome to morning Yoga!!!  My favorite 30 minute ( 28 to be exact) yoga dvd is called Just My Size. I like to refer to it as " chubby girl yoga" just incase you have ever heard me reference the video as such.  Its actually pretty amazing and just basic to say the least. I have had this DVD for a few good years now and seem to always come back to it. Ian has however told me that I need a new DVD that is a little more advanced since I'm so good/used to this one. So I'm just saying for anyone who is in a beginner stage and wants an amazing chubby girl yoga video I recommend this one completely! I got mine off of amazon for a whole $10 too!

I made the pizza again tonight. Im trying not to make too much for the week since i'll be out of town this weekend so pizza is easy, basic, and delicious.

Now as a disclaimer Im not trying to be selfish and only post about myself ( even if I'm the writer in this)
but I can only post about what I know and deal with! Jenny is still involved and trying to get back into a daily routine like when we first started. We are both still doing really well though in staying on track. Big picture people big picture!! until tomorrow!

Day 14...

Lets just call today Lazy day.

I woke up at 7 am after arguing with my alarm clock that I wasn't ready to get up. Jenny nicely woke me up at 6:30 am but sad to say that me nor my cat were ready for work out time!  Now this by no means is a reflection on my dieting and in fact I stayed pretty strong all day. I came home and since its Tuesday it  means lots of fun shows to watch! I decided to make a change in my dinner for 1 ( possibly 2 since I have so much leftovers) nights that was out of the norm.  In our workout "book" that is now just a figure of our imagination since Jenny may or may not have left it somewhere unknown; there are recipes that I remember off hand just by looking at and knowing i loved them! Tonight I decided to make Roasted Tomato basil Pizza!(YUM!)  I do not have a calorie count BUT as long as you are aware of what your putting on your pizza then I think you can keep it under 400 calories(HONEST!). So enjoy the delicious recipe that I honestly loved it so much I cannot wait to make it tomorrow for dinner.

ROASTED TOMATO AND BASIL PIZZA

1. flat bread ( or a slide of bread... I used a slice off of a half of loaf of italian bread. Maybe about 1/4 of a slice)
2. roasted tomatoes (I used grape tomatoes that I roasted myself on a pan with salt pepper and dash of olive oil and they smelled delicious while cooking!)
3. fresh basil ( I chopped it but use it whole or chopped it will taste delicious either way!)
4. fat free mozzarella cheese ( I used rice mozz style cheese)
5. dash of olive oil (to put on the bread before you add your ingredients on top)
6. fresh garlic ( on top of the bread)

Its delicious no matter how you make it! I ended up cutting it into thirds to make it seem like I'm eating more!
I hope you enjoy that just as much as I did!

I have tomorrow morning's breakfast and workout all ready to go at 6 am. Wish me luck!

Day 13..

OK OK so lets get real here for a moment.

We are 2 girls... who like food... ( I mean REALLY like it!!) so our will power to avoid the delicious foods of the world is getting harder and harder.  I hope to post a lot more on here BUT the good part is the reason I have not been posting as much is because my focus is on working out more then the internet. Yes yes I've realized its stupid to start a blog if I'm not using the internet as much SO that being said I'm going to show equal amount of time to the internet as I do for wanting to eat the biggest plate of crinkle cut fries (specifically).

Now we did fall off of the wagon BUT I'm happy to report I've hopped right back on. Don't go judging me on falling off because I have a good reason(excuse) and explanation as to how this happened.  First and foremost my amazing boyfriend ( lets call him IAN.... because that is his name) surprised me on Friday for a weekend visit!  Sounds like a normal thing boyfriends do right? WRONG. We live about 8 hours away! IT's not exactly your trip into town and back!  So anyways although he is ALSO on a diet along with me he was technically on a "vacation" and that means ( say it with me now) FALLING OFF THE WAGON!  Now I held strong for a while to stay on track and help him stay on track as well which he was VERY appreciative of. Anyways Sunday came along and we decided to visit my family about an hour away. My mother the great woman and cook that she is starts offering us random delicious treats and foods. Now because of this I decided that while dieting I need to...

1. make sure to bring my own snacks and dinners and lunches while I visit them.
2. JUST SAY NO! Just because my mother is a sweetheart and offers delicious eats does NOT mean that she will be upset if I politely decline delicious home baked cookies.
3. STAY ON TRACK.
4. raid their cabinets to rid any and all snack foods
5. avoid visiting. (obviously this is not an option)

So its Monday and I started a new week all over.
[6:30 am] wake up. work out. start breakfast. get changed. eat breakfast. head to work by [7:30 am]

I ate my typical waffle and yogurt and breakfast with a cherry/chocolate/cherrio trail mix for a snack. My lunch was delicious even if it was small and my dinner was typical. I've been making this dinner the past week or so and although its delicious its time for a change. Please enjoy this delicious healthy dinner that honestly when you make it you separate it into 4 containers because its a 4 service size type meal AND trust me it will fill you!!

ASPARAGUS AND PEAS IN ORZO PASTA
1. cook about half the box of orzo pasta(about 4. oz)
2. 1 cup of cooked peas
3. whole bag of frozen asparagus (after its cooked chop it up into as big of pieces as you prefer)
4. 1 TBSP of vegetable stock
5. 1 TBSP of pine nuts( I use sunflower seeds.. still seeds still salty still crunch and cheaper!)
6. 1 TBSP olive oil
7. fresh minced garlic ( cooked in the olive oil to brown it  little but don't let it burn! And it will easily!)
8. salt and pepper to taste

*** REMEMBER THE MORE SALT YOU TAKE IN THE MORE BLOATED IT WILL MAKE YOU LOOK *****

If you've successfully made this meal it will look something like the picture above. YUM!!!

Either way you make it remember smaller portions and more flat belly foods or MUFA's. Until tomorrow!

Day...7 ?

Day 7 is being kept short and sweet.

So its been a week exactly and I've almost hit my monthly goal AND Jenny is over half way to hers. Essencially this is good news for a few reasons so let me enlighten you...
1. We get to splurge (slightly) for 1 day ( 1 meal)
2. if something happens where we CANT get to our amazingly prepared food we have some extra room to work with
3. motivation!!( i guess this should have been #1?) I mean really though finding that reaching your mini goal you've made for yourself ALOT sooner than expected is a pretty awesome feeling.
*** notice I said MINI goal not big picture goal or life goal! Keep it simple!*****

Anyways my point being it's awesome.

I have a lot more recipes to share and this week I've decided to go a little rouge from what I had been eating last week so I'm going to share a snack recipe with you this time. Oh and of course Jenny has a different dinner and lunch than I do so thats even more recipes. Most of these recipes are under 400 calories too remember! Oh and before I leave my delicious nutritious snack for everyone to be jealous of the make for themselves so OTHERS can be jealous.. I'm no longer terribly sick(and the crowd goes wild!)!!!

Chocolate Banana Yogurt!
1. 6oz yogurt (vanilla is what they recommend and me too!)
2. 1/4 choc chips
3. half of a medium sized banana

Day 3...

Happy Friday everyone!!!

So we have been kicking this Diet things butt full force! OK I get its only day 3 but that is clearly not the point I am trying to make.   The whole non snacking thing is driving us both nuts but we are foraging through!  I have found myself when watching TV shows like Man Vs Food and movies like Julie & Julia that I can think ONLY of eating and making delicious crazy creations! Its kind of a pain but I keep repeating my mantra "There's nothing sexy about a chubby girl eating french fries.... but a SEXY girl eating fries, now that's a different story!"  ( Please feel free to substitute the word french fries for ANY OTHER delicious food). Jenny's substitution word was Pizza.

Anyways I have hit a slight road block in working out. I have found myself with a sinus infection/head cold/aches etc...  Now because of this I was stuck sleeping and laying down all last night from when I got home(at 6pm.) and now I've been sitting on the couch all morning watching movies, misc TV and organizing small things I can bring to the couch.  Keep your fingers crossed that Advil Allergy Sinus does its worst on me and helps me get back into shape so I can get back into.... SHAPE!

Jenny however has been continuing to move forward with the workouts and eating good!! She happens to work 90 millions hours a week so that is her "cold".

Despite me being sick I have been washing my hands 13412312 today as to help not get my bestie/roomie Jenny sick. Nobody likes a jerk who gets everyone sick! I decided to make my lunch around 1pm this afternoon as I would normally eat it at work. It was one delicious recipe and slightly different then what I have been eating at work so I've decided instead of showing you my AMAZING lunch I made at home I will share my as equally delicious work lunch instead. Since I left my Hummus at work I couldn't make this at home so I have to write about it.

1. Whole Wheat Pita (toasted if you can or even just warmed up if not!)
2. 2 table spoons of hummus
3. 1 slice of tomato ( or in my case a few cherry tomatoes!)
4. olives ( gross... no thank you)
5. 1 medium orange ( I happened to have bought the largest oranges in the world so i cut them in half)

It sounds delicious right? It is... and extremely filling.  I hope my recipes are helping you as they are helping me.

Our "mini" goals first end February 1st. I'm half way to my mini goal although "they" say you fluctuate
about 5 pounds daily so if that is the case I have nothing to be proud of even in weighing myself daily at the same time each day.

On a different note... Im watching a commercial for Xenadrine... Im not recommending any sort of pill to help cheat to get a smaller body because honestly I don't know enough about it to trust it BUT why do they need to show these skinny girls standing tall in their bathing suit and IN HEELS! Help me to understand the logic behind this.... because I cant seem to find any.

Day 1....

Hello and good Wednesday to you all. OK so Obviously we didn't start on January 2nd... But you'll be happy to know we " technically" did start today! January 4th will be the day history changed for all!!!  Or at least Jenny and I.   The past few days with New Years calming down AND me driving 8 hours back home from Ohio have not been the best times to really work out or " eat good".  Now don't misinterpret what I'm saying here.... although it is harder to make good choices to eat on the road since turnpike food is mainly for the rich and NON lactose intolerant meat eaters... I decided to stop being lazy and bring my own oranges apples and sunflower seeds to hold me until I got home. Back to the point...

TODAY January 4th the day history changed for two awesome young ladies we decided to do a 21 day challenge! Its in a book that Jenny happened to have. I cannot think of the exact title and author off of the top of my head but Ill make sure to post a link on here somewhere in case your curious.  This challenge involves alot of portion control and changing how you look at putting meals together. It also doesn't let you snack all day like some diets tell you although the " snack" you choose you CAN break into half's and sometimes (if your a grazer like me) you need to do that to trick your mind.  Also people BREAKFAST! Eat it!!! My breakfast SHOULD make you jealous... wanna see?

My recipe was altered slightly so here is the real one....
1. Whole grain waffle
2. 1/4 cup blue berries
3. 2oz vanilla yogurt
4. 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Since I'm not only poor, but lactarded, AND clearly cannot read when it tells me things I altered it slightly.
1. blueberry waffle
2. 1/4 cup strawberries(cheaper then blueberries!!!!)
3. 2oz vanilla soy yogurt(I'm lactarded... yes its sad)
4. 1/4 cup wegmans semi sweet choc chips which ARE lactose intolerant friendly!!!

As you see its not TOO different BUT just as delicious let me tell you! This coming from a woman who's breakfast's used to consist of a Soda and 2 hash browns from wawa.   Yum.

Ill post snacks and lunches/dinners other days to come since there are a TON to choose from but of course Ive only chosen a few. NOW If I may... Jenny has actually chosen a different breakfast that I didn't have time to photograph or get the full recipe for.  I know it consisted of Spinach... scrambled eggs... 1 whole grain waffle... and olive tapenade WHICH was substituted for 4 olives and a 1/2tsp olive oil. (Lets be real.... that pretty much IS tapenade....

Honestly we were both kind of hungry after we had that for breakfast but because we both are used to snacking/grazing/finding misc things to try to chew. Keep your fingers crossed this works!

Oh and if it makes you feel better knowing we worked out to some super fly dance moves from the Black Eyed Peas Wii game this morning then so be it. Its fantastic and even if you get an "X" (which means you CLEARLY did not do the move correctly) its still moving and a big workout. che..che...che...che...check it out.

XO G & J
